Man charged with drug trafficking for alleged meth lab

A 31-year-old Alabama man is facing charges after police discovered an alleged meth lab in his motel room on Sept. 23 in Foley. Police responded to a report of a meth lab at the Town & Country Motel, located on Ala. 59 near the South Baldwin Regional Medical Center. The man whose name the room was under was not in the room at the time, but his place of employment was contacted, and he was later escorted back to the motel.

The Baldwin County Drug Task Force and other Foley investigators were called in to search the room. Investigators found over 28 grams of meth oil and other items of drug paraphernalia. Reports allege that the man had produced methamphetamine in the room multiple times.

The man was taken to Baldwin County Corrections Center, located in Bay Minette, and was charged with violations involving drug trafficking. His bail reportedly was set at $1 million.

Someone who may have been involved in a similar situation may wish to seek the services of a criminal defense attorney. An attorney may be able to help a client form a defense against the charges by proving that the man was not involved in the alleged drug production or was not aware of the operation. If conviction seems likely to occur, an attorney could also negotiate with prosecutors for a plea bargain. A plea bargain could involve the client pleading guilty to some charges while others are dropped or a client submitting to community service rather than jail time.
